GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX)–Pfizer, Moderna, and Novavax have all been go-to COVID vaccines for doctors and pharmacies–but Mesa County Public Health has ordered “Bivalent,” which is a new vaccine booster, and it will be available in Mesa County in a couple weeks.
The Bivalent vaccine is available for anyone 12 and older, who has already had their initial two-vaccine dose. Bivalent is a mixture of two other COVID-19 vaccines, and is designed to help fight off the Omicron variant– Mesa County’s most prevalent variant–as well as any other variant. Officials state the booster will be administered in two doses.
Mesa County Public Health is asking the public to fill out a survey to help gauge public interest in the Bivalent vaccine, in order to help better plan their vaccine clinics this fall.
