Oil Springs fire at 18% containment

Local News

Rio Blanco County, Colo. – Currently Colorado’s largest burning fire, the Oil Springs fire South of Rangely is sitting at 12,600 acres and is 18 percent contained. Officials say they’ve reduced the number of affected acres by roughly 100, due to more accurate mapping.

Recent rain is helping keep fire activity down, but it is expected to flare up again once it dries out. As of now road closures on CO 139 and Douglass Pass due to the fire are no longer in place. However, County Roads 113 and 116, along with BLM Road 10-45 remain closed.
