PALISADE, Colo. – Dixie Burmeister joined us live with fresh gingerbread and two exciting holiday events coming up in Grand Junction!

“The Palisade Chamber of Commerce members and volunteers are happily bringing back, The Palisade Olde Fashioned Christmas, full of the traditions and joy that makes our holidays special” says, Bonnie Davis, Executive Director of the Palisade Chamber “You can definitely say we feel the spirit as we know everyone does, we get daily calls asking about the Gingerbread Contest and other Olde Fashioned Christmas events.”

It seems everyone is ready for the Dec 3rd lighting of the Plaza Christmas Tree with Taylor Elementary carolers, Christmas Parade and Altrusa’s Cup of warmth. Saturday, Dec. 4th, brings streets filled with the Olde Town Market Place, holiday music, chimineas and our Soup Challenge, with local Chefs vying for the chance to get your vote to win the trophy.  There’s a silent auction, nativity scenes from around the world, Santa, the Grinch, carriage rides and more.

Dixie Burmeister, organizer of the Gingerbread Contest and Showcase says, “It’s back and that means it’s time to plan, design and build your entries for Palisade’s Olde Fashioned Christmas Gingerbread Contest and Showcase, Sat. December 4th, for all ages, children and adults, beginners to experts, with nine categories, prizes, ribbons, gift bags for all children entering. Early check- in also available. This year, following guidelines, Community Hospital’s Giant Gingerbread House cookie goes into a kit for kids to take home to decorate. Santa and the Gingerbread People will be there to help hand them out.” Entry forms and details at palisadecoc.com.
