GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Spring burn season starting March 1st and lasts until May 31st. Daily limits for open burning are 10 acres per day for non-pile burning. For pile burning, daily limits are 250 cubic feet per day.

Properties smaller than one acre may burn for irrigation and piles should be at least 300 feet apart. Piles should be 50 feet from structures, including combustible fences. Agricultural open burning rules remain the same, as burning is allowed all year at no cost.

Residential permits cost $25 and are issued online via Mesa County Public Health’s website. That fee goes towards the Grand Junction Fire Department. To obtain permit information, visit:
