GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX)–The Orchard Mesa Pool is nearly four decades old and is nearly past due for a renovation.

Grand Junction Parks and Recreation is working with Mesa County and District 51, to plan the design and engineering for the Orchard Mesa Pool. With the pool being outdated, a lot of the plumbing and infrastructure will need to be replaced.

Officials will be working on the renovation budget starting next month. When asked if the new rec center at would take guests away from the Orchard Mesa Pool, Parks Director Ken Sherbanou says building the full service rec center–along with the Orchard Mesa Pool renovation–is great, because they can make sure those two facilities complement each other.

Public sessions regarding the Orchard Mesa Pool are not yet scheduled, but if you want to make your voice heard about the Matchett Park Rec Center, you can go to Faith Heights Church next to Matchett Park on Tuesday, September 20TH at 6:00 p.m.
