Ouray Ice Climber Falls to his Death

SILVERTON, Colo. – An ice climber fell several hundred feet to his death Friday evening in Silverton’s Eureka Canyon.

According to The Durango Herald, Mark Miller was guiding clients up a well-known route called First Gully. It was the last day of a four day expedition when Miller went off his safety rope and fell.

The experienced 50 year old climber was a Ouray County Emergency Medical Technician, as well as a member of Ouray Mountain Rescue.

A memorial will be held in Ouray on Sunday at 3 p.m.
