PALISADE, Colo. — The Palisade Chamber of Commerce, along with chamber members and sponsors pulled off a surprise visit to Palisade’s Taylor Elementary students today, with Santa and special guest, The Grinch, and bags of candy. Driver and owner of Pali-Tours and Palisade Chamber Board President, Dave Smith and Chamber Executive Director Andrew Weber (aka, The Grinch), decided it was time to step up to the plate and create some holiday joy with their idea for Cruisin Palisade with Santa and Special Guest. “Since so many holiday events had to be cancelled, following Health Department COVID-19 Guidelines, the need for some holiday cheer was apparent to one and all. We checked with the Health Department, conferred with the Principal of Taylor Elementary, Jennifer Morales, and quickly got sponsors to happily help with pulling off this surprise for all Taylor Elementary Students, Pre-Schools in Palisade, and we even added a trip to the Palisade Living Center to wave and cheer to the residents”, says Weber with a big smile. Students were gathered outside in their pods, not realizing who was coming down the road to greet them. The rest of the afternoon was spent driving thru the neighborhoods of Palisade spreading more Christmas joy and surprise, to families and children.
Jennifer Morrell, principal of Taylor Elementary, had this to say about their Taylor Christmas Surprise:” We are so grateful to be supported by a community like Palisade. We’ve always felt a great level of support, but especially through this tough year. It’s wonderful to bring any kind of normalcy and joy to our students right now, and we love our town!”
Andrew Weber added: “It’s times like this, well, I guess there haven’t been times like this for us before, and that’s exactly why we all need to keep the spirit and joy alive for our kids and community”
