Palisade Chamber of Commerce Brings the Holiday Spirit to the Children

Local News

Santa took a cruise through Palisade on Friday December 4, and the Rrinch was there too, but Covid 19 is the real Grinch that stole Palisade’s “Olde Fashioned Christmas.” Dixie Burmeister with the Palisade Chamber of Commerce says, “We got the guidelines, and we were following that, and we were going to have so much fun, and it was gonna be outside, and then guess what happened?”

The pandemic has canceled the festival this year in 2020, but Covid can never cancel Christmas spirit. “We’re not gonna let it get us down,” said Burmeister. Taylor Elementary 5th Grader, Kayslin Mathes says, “It’s not too late to lose Christmas spirit.”

The Palisade Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Health Department and the principal at Taylor Elementary, brought the big guy and the Grinch to keep the holiday spirit alive in the hearts of children with a parade from Pali Tours. The first stop is Taylor Elementary. Kayslin says, “I think it rose the Christmas spirit in our school because everybody has had a tough year with 2020 happening.”

The pandemic can change the way we do things, but it’ll never stop Santa. Dixie says, “All I want for Christmas is a mask, and for all the kids to be happy.” Thanks to partnerships with the community the Christmas spirit is alive in Palisade making one little girl’s Christmas wish come true. Kayslin says, “I want them (kids) to feel good, and not have any worries if we’re going to get shut down at school again, or have any worries about anything.”
