The Palisade Plunge, one of the trails associated with Governor Hickenlooper’s initiative to improve 16 trails in 2016, officially has a plan for success.

The mountain bike trail will drop 6,300 feet from the Mesa Top Trail located on the Grand Mesa leading into Palisade.

At the Palisade Chamber of Commerce meeting, 81 out of 85 members were in favor of moving forward with the project, that will now be presented to the Town of Palisade.

Trustees will decide if they would like to be applicants for the trail,  and need to apply to the Governors office by March 8th.

Jon Sabal, chairman of the board of the Palisade Chamber of Commerce, says that he believes adding outdoor recreation to Palisade will benefit Palisades economy.

“Outdoor recreation pumps $3 million into the Fruita economy, and that’s nothing to sneeze at” said Sabal.

The 3 year project is estimated to cost up to $500,000, and whether or not it is approved, will be announced on April 7th.
