Grand Junction, CO - This is National Mentors Month, and one program in Mesa County is showing what mentoring can do for kids, as well as their mentors.
The Mesa County Partners Program pairs up adults with kids who need some guidance in life.
Kat McArthur has been mentoring Makayla Plantz in the program and it has been a growing experience for both of them.
And another Senior Partner, martial arts instructor Felipe Soto, has also been pitching in, helping kids build up their confidence through the martial arts.
Mcarthur says she has gotten as much out of the program as she has given to it.
"Being able to look through the eyes of a child again, be able to spend time with them, you learn about your community that way as well," McArthur said.
