MESA, Colo. (KREX)–Powderhorn Resort is having itself a nice “powder day” on Martin Luther King Day. With more than 7 inches of snow in the past 48 hours, their total snowfall this year now sits at 172 inches; 22 inches more than average, and over 100 inches more than they saw all of last year.

Powderhorn’s newly acquired ski instructor Bob Koehler says this might be the best base the resort has ever had at this point of the season. “Everybody I’ve talked to has said this has been a record early season,” says Koehler.

The season isn’t over yet, and there’s still much more snow to come. Could this be a record-breaking year? Only time will tell.
