MESA COUNTY, Colo. — It’s school graduation season, but this year, things will look different for many.
To honor graduates in a timely fashion, teachers, and administrators at R-5 High School are recognizing graduates, in their own way.
School District-51 still plans on having graduation ceremonies, but a date hasn’t been finalized. In the meantime, R-5 High School staff is driving by its graduates’ homes with signs and gift bags, honking and cheering.
These graduates, in particular, have so much to be proud of. “Many of our learners have struggled, as we know, we are all going through a traumatic experience right now… that’s across the board with this COVID-19, but many of our learned have had multiple traumatic experiences,” says Don Trujillo, R-5 High School Principal.
