Scattered snow showers have drifted into the Western Slope from the south. We are seeing cloudy skies along side these snow showers. Thanks to the cloudy start to the day morning lows were 5 - 10 degrees above average. Snow chances will start to decrease at sunrise. This afternoon we will see cloudy skies and slightly warmer than normal temperatures. Some scattered snow showers may stick around in the southern portions, but by evening hours expect to see dry weather. High pressure will settle into region and bring us dry weather for the middle of the work week. Starting on Wednesday we will see a cut off low develop off the coast of the Baja Peninsula. This will start to push more moisture into the Western Slope. As we move towards the end of the Week this low will open up and converge with a trough from the Pacific Northwest. With these two factors added together we could see the most amount of precipitation move into the Western Slope in months. Get ready for rain/snow on Friday and a snowy/rainy weekend ahead.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Two days from the inauguration, President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris pitched in on Martin Luther King Jr. Day service projects as a militarized and jittery Washington prepared for a swearing-in that will play out under extraordinary security.

Biden and his wife, Jill, joined an assembly line in the parking lot of Philabundance, an organization that distributes food to people in need, and helped fill about 150 boxes with fresh fruit and nonperishables.

Updates on Riverfront at Dos Rios Development

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -- Thirty years ago the location for the riverfront at Dos Rios was used as a storage space for scrap cars. Now the Riverfront at Dos Rios is on its way to becoming a 58-acre mixed development.It will consist of spaces for parks and industrial and commercial development. The city is currently working on the 10.8 million dollar horizontal infrastructure of the area, installing things like gutters, sidewalks, and putting in utilities. The aim is to pave a path for private development that is estimated to be worth about 80 million dollars so that people will be able to live, work, and play in the area.

Previously the Colorado Riverfront trail between Hale Avenue within the Riverside Neighborhood and South 7th Street/HWY 50 overpass was closed for construction related to the project. And within the next few months, additional temporary closures will be necessary for new segments of the Riverfront Trail to be constructed. But it is anticipated that future closures will not require trail users to travel over the 5th street/HWY 50 overpass.
