RIFLE, Colo. (KREX)–Electric vehicles are becoming more and more popular–especially now with large tax rebates available for people to buy them. because of the rising popularity of EV’s–the city of Rifle is now considering requiring new homes with garages to come standard with charging capabilities.
City councilman Sean Strode proposed the requirement, because installing a charger would be significantly easier and cost less to install in new builds than it would to install retroactively. Council members have yet to decide whether to make it an immediate requirement–or to implement a one-year grace period for EV charger installation–but a requirement will likely be coming soon.
More info to come.
