GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- To offer the community pets while staying safe, The Roice-Hurst Humane Society is offering virtual pet adoptions.
“Even though restrictions are lifted, our concern is that our community, especially the vulnerable population. We do not want to ask people to come and gather, but we still want to be able to offer them pets.” Anna Stout, Roice-Hurst Humane Society
The animal organization is doing this by setting up a video conference call, using an app called Zoom.
“How this works, we are in a zoom room right now, and so we have a mixture of Roice-Hurst staff, Roice-Hurst fosters, who have their animals with them and people that want to adopt.”
Roice-Hurst fosters will show the animals through the zoom call, giving a brief description of the pet and if someone is interested in the pets, they will get separated into a different chat room.
“If someone is interested in a specific animal, we are going to use zoom breakout room feature, that they can talk about the animal, while we continue the rest of the zoom meeting.” Anna Stout, Roice-Hurst Humane Society
