Grand Junction, CO - A safety project on I-70 through part of Grand Junction started Monday morning. The aim is to make the highway safer, but this week it could cause some traffic delays.
All this week, CDOT workers will be replacing old cables and guardrails, and adding some new ones, along the highway between mile markers 30 and 32. During the construction project, there will be some lane closures and reduced speed limits.
CDOT says it has seen an increase in accidents along this stretch of I-70, and that replacing old safety material and installing some new cables will improve safety along the highway.
