Salvation Army Helps Those in Need

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - The Salvation Army is on Santa's good list this year.

Since 1908 the organization has been helping families in need with their Christmas Assistance Program.

Last year, the program helped over 3,000 people to put toys under the tree and provide food for Christmas.

This year the Salvation Army is expecting to help 800 families in Mesa County through their Angel Tree Program.

Anonymous donors will adopt these little angels to spread the holiday tradition and make the season brighter.

"People can come in between now and November 3, Monday through Friday. They need to have some ID with them, a proof of income, rent or mortgage receipt, utility bill, signed lease, picture ID for everyone in the home, just so we know who they are and how many children they have," said Captain Steve Staneart.

The Salvation Army will be taking applications at 1235 N 4th Street.
