COLORADO– According to a survey conducted by CDOT, seat belt use increased this year by 2%, changing our 86.3% rate to 88.3%.
This brings us closer to the national average, which is 90%.
CDOT, along with CSP, has introduced a number of Click It or Ticket campaigns during peak seasons, in order to crack down on those who are not buckled properly.
These campaigns also focus on rural drivers and those with children improperly restrained in cars.
In 2018, 220 of the 416 total vehicle deaths were attributed to those who were not wearing a seat belt.
