GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Students are the chefs at a new restaurant in Grand Junction.
It's all part of a high school culinary program at Schools District's 51 Career Center that offers students the chance to run a restaurant.
Students from all over the district are able to enroll where they are graded on their progress working 2 hours during the school day to serve the public during lunchtime.
The cafe that has gone through several renovations teaches students how to manage money, making eye contact, and to be a good employee.
"I'm interested going into the food industry and working in fancy restaurant in the future," said Luis Ramos, a student in the program.
Fresh Side Cafe is located at 2935 North Avenue, and is open Tuesdays through Fridays 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
