Single Engine Plane Crash at the Colorado-Utah Border

At 11:06 a.m. Saturday, March 7th, 911 received a report a single-engine, two seat plane, crashed near the Colorado River in Knowles Canyon.

Rescue crews report the 37-year-old Grand Junction pilot is the sole occupant of the crash, and was conscious and reporting no major injuries.

The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office, Lower Valley Fire Protection District, Mesa County Search and Rescue, and Centurylink helicopter were all involved in the rescue operation.

Officials report the pilot was flying from Moab to Grand Junction when the plane crashed partially in the river.

Both the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the cause of the crash.

As of 1:30pm Saturday, March 7th, the pilot was reportedly found safe with only minor injuries.
