GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Colorado has the highest UV index and the highest rate of skin cancer in the country.
Thanks to local two-time melanoma survivor, Debra Hesse and her partnership with St. Mary's Cancer Center, you can learn about the sun damage on your face by getting a free picture taken with the only UV camera in Western Colorado.
Seeing a dermatologist in the Grand Valley might be a little more difficult, but by becoming your own advocate, learning more about detection and prevention and communicating with your primary physician, you should be able to get the care you need. Just don't forget to apply sunscreen every 2 hours!
The upcoming dates to get your photo taken with the UV camera are May 25th, 26th and 27th at JUCO from 9 am until 3 pm, Thursday, May 30th at Chipeta Golf Course from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., and Monday, June 3rd at Palisade Veteran's Park from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
