Snow Brings Dangerous Roads Conditions on New Year’s Day

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- The first major snowfall of the new decade sweeps across the Grand Valley.

New Year’s Day began with up to 2-3 inches of fresh snow in Grand Junction, and greater accumulation in higher elevations.

According to Colorado State Patrol, major roads such as I-70 in De Beque Canyon and Highway 50 south of Grand Junction were especially hazardous.

We spoke to a Colorado State Patrol officer about how you can stay safe during snowy conditions. He tells us he responded to multiple incidents in De Beque Canyon of vehicles sliding off the road on the morning of New Year’s Day.

We also caught up with local residents on how the New Year’s Day snow impacted them.
