Some Redlands residents disapprove a potential land development

GRAND JUNCTION– A potential land development in the Redlands area has upset some local residents.

Residents of the Canyon Rim subdivision say they’re opposing development on this land mainly used for hiking and mountain biking.

One resident tells KREX the area is enjoyed by people across the community.

The homeowners say the proposed development is not safe because there are steep slopes, potential rock-falls, and unstable soil in the area.

A city official says the land is categorized as planned development, but does not have a zoning category yet.

This official says land classified as planned development needs a zoning category in order for any development to move forward.
