Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive Local Results

Local News

The National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Food Drive brings in more than one million pounds of food statewide, and the Western Slope contributes over 70,232 pounds of food.

Last year, the Grand Valley collected around 76,000 pounds of food, meaning there is a decrease in the amount of food in local numbers. Officials say they hope to see more community involvement with next year’s food drive, as some of them know how difficult hunger and lack of food can be. “I ended up with cancer, and with all that, I needed assistance. And I was lucky enough that the food drive was there for us,” says DeeAnn Lowry, the NALC Branch 913 President.

Despite the decrease in local numbers, the food drive record statewide increases by 35% this year.
