Denver, CO -- Today, Walker Stapleton announced Lang Sias, a decorated combat veteran and citizen-legislator in the Colorado House of Representatives, as his choice for Lieutenant Governor.
For the past four years, Lang has served in the Colorado General Assembly, representing House District 27. During this time, he has earned a reputation as a bipartisan legislator who gets things done for Colorado. In the last session, Lang wrote bipartisan legislation, which was signed into law by Governor Hickenlooper that reformed parts of Colorado’s healthcare system and brought more transparency to healthcare costs for consumers. Throughout his time in the General Assembly, over 85% of legislation that he sponsored had bipartisan support.
Lang served in the U.S. military from 1986 through 2015. After graduating first in his class at Aviation Officer Candidate School, he became a Navy FA-18 pilot and served multiple deployments to the Mideast, including flying combat missions off the USS Saratoga during Operation Desert Storm. Selected to attend the Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN), he returned as a TOPGUN instructor, serving as the unit's Training Officer. After twelve years in the Navy, Lang transitioned to the Air National Guard as an F-16 pilot and volunteered to serve as a ground based forward air controller during the Second Iraq War. In 2005, he commanded a unit of forward air controllers in Kirkuk and Hawija, Iraq, and recently retired as a lieutenant colonel.
“Lang Sias is a decorated combat veteran who will never back down from our fight to protect Coloradans,” said Walker. “I’m honored he has chosen to stand beside me and continue his stellar career of service to make life better for all Coloradans. Lang’s experience working across the aisle to get things done in the State House make him an ideal candidate and I’m excited for what we will accomplish together for Colorado.”
“Colorado needs a common sense, results-driven Governor like Walker Stapleton,” said Lang. “I’m proud to stand beside Walker in the fight for the future of Colorado because I know he will deliver on his promise of economic opportunity for all. I look forward to working with Walker to expand on his list of accomplishments that includes saving taxpayer dollars, defeating the largest tax increase in Colorado history, and reforming our state’s pension system. I know Walker is the executive Colorado needs because he will move our state forward and save us from Jared Polis’ disastrous economic policies.”
Sias will not seek reelection to House District 27.
