GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - On January 2, News Channel Five received several Facebook messages that expressed concern about their loved ones in the Mesa County Detention Facility, whom are sick with a stomach bug.
News Channel Five spoke with the Public Information Officer for the Mesa County Sheriff's Office, Megan Terlecky, who said the same stomach bug that has been floating around the Grand Valley has made it's way inside the detention facility.
So far, a few inmates and staff members have gotten sick, but Terlecky said that's common this time of year.
According to Terlecky, inmates at the Sheriff's Office have access to medical care that can be provided on site. They can also be transported to a hospital or facility that will meet their needs. "Making sure that people who, if they do get sick, we take care of them as much as we can. If people do have loved ones who are in the Mesa County Detention Facility, they're more than welcome to call," said Terlecky.
