It’s going to be a hot week for the Western Slope with dry conditions, mountain storms and a light wind.
Monday afternoon high temperatures for Grand Junction should rise to the middle 90s with Montrose achieving near 90° readings. Light wind out of the northwest could gust up to the 25 mph zone. That light wind will remain in the forecast for Tuesday along with hot and dry conditions.
Hottest temperatures for the period should be during the midweek with middle and upper 90s (Montrose G.J. ) and a run for the triple digits in some desert areas. Records high temperatures for Grand Junction this week (Wed/Thurs/Fri) are 103°/103°/104°. By the end of this week, a pattern change could bring a round of storms and less hot temperatures for the region. Red Flag Warnings should develop (late week) ahead of this approaching storm system, but very dry conditions remain and any wind speed can quickly spread a flame or ignition source.
