A Grand Junction Police Department officer on his way in to work Thursday morning struck and injured a 14-year-old girl at an intersection in Palisade.
In a news release, the GJPD said the girl was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Shortly before 7:00am today, an off-duty police officer with the Grand Junction Police Department was on his way to work in his department issued passenger car when he struck a 14 year old female pedestrian at the intersection of Kluge Avenue and West Eighth Street in Palisade. The officer called 911, and EMS personnel with Palisade Fire responded and transported the female to the hospital. The extent of her injuries is unknown, but not expected to be life threatening.
The officer is fully cooperating with the investigation, which is being handled by the Palisade Police Department, in cooperation with the Colorado State Patrol. As per our standard protocol, an internal investigation will be completed by our agency, as well. Any further details regarding the investigation of the collision will come from the investigating agencies.
