Though Dr. Thomas Weir never interviewed Austin Holzer, Friday he testified he believes Holzer is a psychopath.
The test used to guide this diagnosis was the “Hare Psychopathy Checklist” and Weir used the recording from another psychologist’s evaluation of Holzer, using the same but newer version of the checklist, to guide his conclusion.
Weir testified that numerous personality traits of Holzer’s indicated him to the diagnosis.
The Hare Test puts the threshold at a score of “30” to determine a potential psychopath. Weir scored Holzer at a 34.7
Weir said Holzer’s manipulative history as well as extensive criminal background were a few indicators among many others.
Weir was a prosecution witness.
The preliminary hearing to determine whether Holzer, the 18-year-old accused of shooting and killing Mesa County Sheriff’s Deputy Derek Geer, will be tried as an adult or juvenile will continue on January 30th.
