If you’re headed out of town for the labor day holiday, remember, you won’t be the only one on our busy highways.
Colorado State Patrol recommends being prepared this weekend with necessary planning.
If you’re traveling long distances CSP says to leave in the morning when less traffic is present on the roads.
If you’re going east through the canyons and other areas without a cellular connection, be sure to pack an emergency kit with snacks, water, and if possible an emergency radio that can connect to a radio broadcast tower to call for help.
“Know the car in front of you, the distance, the dangers inherent in front of you. Whether it’s a broken down car, a wreck in front of you. That aggressive or impatient driver, which always causes issues for us. Know it’s okay to home twenty minutes later, just because you’re taking your time and you’re going to get home safely. That’s all we’re asking for is that everybody gets home safely”, says Glen Hunter the Public Information Officer for CSP.
CSP hopes you enjoy the labor day weekend but wants to emphasize how important it is to arrive alive.
