Grand Junction brought out its best hats and bow ties for a good cause Saturday afternoon.
The non-profit organization STRIVE, hosted their annual Kentucky Derby to raise funds for their children services –childhood intervention and its diagnostic clinic.
STRIVE is able to help 534 children a year and with their Tulips and Juleps event they have been able to help over 2,000 children.
“It really is touchy. You can see it in their face, you can see it in their tears because they know those good things happen for a reason and they happen for the reason of their child,” said Sorter.
Last year they were able to raise over $45,000. Vice President Douglas Sorter, said they’re looking to raise $62,000 this year.
