GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — The Grand Junction City Council has adopted two new ordinances in advance of cannabis sales within the city. Ordinance No. 5064 will include cannabis use licenses and regulations in the Grand Junction Municipal Code. While Ordinance No. 5065 articulates the uses of the special sales and use tax and excise tax of 6 percent from the City’s regular sales tax collection of 3.25%.
The council will consider a third ordinance on May 4 related to cannabis business licensing land use regulations including use standards, buffering, and signage requirements. This comes after a recommendation was made by the City Planning Commission.
The total number of stores allowed in city limits will be capped at a maximum of ten stores.
