MESA COUNTY, Colo. — More than 12,000 Coloradans applied for unemployment the week ending May 30th which is the most recent unemployment data in Colorado. Before that, the week ending May 23rd, more than 15,000 Coloradans filed for unemployment.
This downward trend in claims has been steady over the last seven weeks.
In Mesa County, claims have dropped drastically compared to the beginning of the pandemic. The latest number of claims according to the Mesa County Workforce Center is 278, which is data from the week ending May 23rd.
Mesa County saw that number peak in the week ending March 28th, at 2,583 claims.
Although a drastic decrease, 278 filings is still high. Usually, the Mesa County Workforce center sees 40 to 70 claims in a given weekly period this time of year.
