Golden, CO - A jury in Jefferson County has found Michael Blagg guilty of First Degree Murder in the death of his wife Jennifer.
Blagg was being retried after being convicted in 2004 of murdering his wife in 2001. That conviction was thrown out because of juror misconduct.
It took the current jury 3 days to reach its verdict. Blagg was also found guilty of several other charges, including use of a deadly weapon. He was sentenced shortly after the verdict to life in prison.
In November of 2001, Blagg called police to report that his wife and his then 6-year-old daughter Abby were missing. Jennifer Blagg's body was found in the Mesa County landfill several months later. Abby has never been found.
In the current trial, Blagg's defense attorneys had argued that Jennifer was killed by a serial pedophile who then abducted Abby.
The prosecution contended that Blagg shot his wife in the head and disposed of her body in the landfill. Investigators believe that Blagg also killed his daughter.
