UPDATE: Fifth Arrest In Kyle Free Murder Case

The list of people arrested in the Kyle Free murder case continues to grow, with a fifth person arrested Monday night in Iowa.

Nathaniel A Ryan, of Grand Junction, was taken into custody in Iowa, and is being held in the Mills County Jail on a No Hold Bond.

He has been charged with

     *Accessory to the Crime of Murder in the First Degree (Class 4 Felony)

     *Tampering With Evidence (Class 6 Felony)

     *Abuse of a Corpse (Class 2 Misdemeanor

Earlier story:

Two more arrests have been made in the murder case of Clifton resident Kyle Free.

Arrested were:
John C. Eddy, 25, of Clifton is facing the following charges: 

  • Murder in the First Degree (Class 1 Felony) 
  • Conspiracy to Commit Murder in the First Degree (Class 1 Felony) 

David S. Castro, 32, of Clifton is facing the following charges:

  • Murder in the First Degree (Class 1 Felony) 
  • Conspiracy to Commit Murder in the First Degree (Class 1 Felony) 

Both Eddy and Castro are being held in the Mesa County Detention Facility on a No Bond Hold. 

Free’s body was found last week in a remote area of Mesa County, and the Mesa County Coroner said he had died from gunshot wounds to the neck and chest.

Also last week, a 2nd person had been arrested and charged with Accessory to First Degree Murder, Timothy Zane Russman, 28, of Clifton reportedly had been cooperating with investigators, and he was freed on bond.

The first person arrested in the case was Rebecca Walker, 34, of Clifton. She was arrested on November 27, and charged with several crimes including First Degree Murder.

Despite all the arrests, few details about what happened have been revealed, as investigators say this is still an active investigation.

Walker is due back in court on Friday, and Mesa County District Attorney Dan Rubinstein says the arrest affidavits in the case may be released then.
