VA requires COVID-19 vaccinations for medical personnel

Local News

Mesa County, Colo. – Just announced this afternoon, the Department of Veterans Affairs is the first major Federal Agency to require health care workers to get the COVID-19 vaccine, even right here in Mesa County.

Vaccines will now be mandatory for certain medical personnel at the VA Medical Center, including physicians, dentists, registered nurses, and anyone who provides direct care to vets.

Mesa County’s own VA Medical Facility says it will be requiring health care workers to be vaccinated very soon.

This decision comes as the highly contagious Delta Variant continues to see troubling increases in hospitalizations among unvaccinated individuals,

“It’s the best way to keep veterans safe, especially as the Delta Variant spreads across the country,” says the VA Secretary of Veterans Affairs, Denis McDonough.

The VA is one of nearly 60 leading medical and healthcare organizations that is
issuing a call for vaccination requirements today.
