DeBeque, CO - The Colorado Violent Offenders Task Force on Tuesday arrested a man the say is a validated white supremacist gang member on federal firearms violations along with a host of other charges related to crimes in Grand Junction, Mesa County and Garfield County.
Rodney Clark Price, 40, of Parachute was arrested at a home in DeBeque. He was being sought after he evaded arrest during a car and foot chase on January 18. Below are the details of the arrest from a news release issued by the Garfield County Threat Assessment Group.
On January 31, 2018, members of the Colorado Violent Offender Task Force and local agencies based out of Mesa County, Colorado executed a search warrant at a residence in DeBeque, Colorado that resulted in the arrest of Rodney Clark Price. Rodney Price was a fugitive wanted on Federal firearm violations and a fugitive with active warrants out of Mesa County and Garfield County, Colorado. Mesa County Sheriff’s Office and Grand Junction Police Department SWAT assisted the task force in the execution of the warrant. The Colorado Violent Offender Task force is comprised of law enforcement partners with the United States Marshal’s Service (USMS), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and deputies with Mesa County Sheriff’s Office and Garfield County Sheriff’s Office Threat Assessment Group (TAG).
The investigation of Rodney Price began in September of 2016 by Investigators with the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office TAG unit and Homeland Security Investigations. Investigators learned that he was a convicted felon in possession of firearms. The investigation resulted in the seizure of two firearms and distribution quantities of methamphetamine. As a result, the investigation led to a Federal indictment for violation of Federal firearms statutes. Investigators were able to validate Price as a white supremacist gang member. During the investigation, Price’s behavior interacting with law enforcement became increasingly non-compliant and confrontational and developed into an officer safety risk contacting Price.
On January 18, 2018, TAG Investigators learned that Rodney Price had a warrant issued out of Grand Junction, CO for felony criminal trespass. Investigators and Deputies with the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop and apprehend Price that resulted in a short vehicle pursuit and Price fleeing law enforcement on foot. A search warrant executed on Price’s vehicle resulted in additional methamphetamine seizure of approximately 16 grams. Investigators followed up on and were able to locate Price’s current location to a residence in DeBeque, Colorado where today’s operation was conducted. Price was taken into custody without incident and later transported to the Mesa County Jail where he was booked on his active Federal, Mesa, and Garfield County arrest warrants.
