GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. — Prosecutors are upgrading charges against a Garfield County woman, for the drug involved death of her young daughter.
Authorities say those upgraded charges against Stephanie Alvarado include murder.
She was arrested in late January, and initially charged with suspicion of child abuse resulting in death, possession of a controlled substance, and reckless endangerment.
Officials say 5-year-old Sophie Larson died of methamphetamine intoxication, from drinking water mixed with the drug.
Other new charges against Alvarado stem from an alleged domestic violence incident that happened Wednesday morning at the Carbondale home of the child father, Alec Larson.
