GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — During KREX 5’s time in the courthouse Friday, two witnesses gave pretrial testimony in the Travis Polutnik case. The first witness called by the prosecution was the Sexual Assault Examiner, who detailed their interview with the victim. During cross-examination, the defense focused on the questioning process. Polutnik’s defense asked the examiner why all questions were not documented.

The second witness called was the victim’s mother and Polutnik’s ex-wife. She retold the first time the victim told her Polutnik allegedly assaulted the child. Following this up with details on a second child who was audio recorded saying that Polutnik allegedly watched pornography with the child. When the defense got its chance to ask questions of the victim’s mother, they keyed in on custody issues during the Spring of 2019 and her original request for $150,000 in restitution.

Travis Polutnik is facing charges that include aggravated incest and sexual assault on a child.
