GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - The 22-year-old girl who was sent to the hospital after a physical altercation with her boyfriend, has died as a result of her injuries.
Morgan Dumas was pronounced dead Friday, at the hospital. The cause of death is blunt force head injuries and the manner of death is ruled as a homicide, according to the Mesa County Coroner's Office.
The incident happened at 2858 Hall Avenue, as Grand Junction Police responded to reports of an unconscious woman at 8:30 am, Thursday morning.
Detectives say, Oscar Rodriguez, 24, admitted to two separate physical altercations between him and Dumas.
Rodriguez told authorities on two occasions he pushed the victim to the ground, and both times she went unconscious and was left for several hours.
Thursday, Rodriguez was taken into custody, charged with second-degree assault and domestic violence. It is unclear if Rodriguez will face additional charges now that Dumas has died.
He's currently being held on a no bond hold, pending his first court appearance.
