GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — Xcel Energy announced a new wave of layoffs across Colorado and other states today.

A representative for Xcel said in a statement to WesternSlopeNow the company’s been facing “financial headwinds from inflation, supply chain pressures, and increased hiring during the pandemic.”

The company representative tells WesternSlopeNow Xcel reduced its workforce by 2%, impacting 59 Coloradans across several locations.

The announcement comes after a Denver district court jury determined Xcel owes 26.45 million dollars in damages to CORE Electrical Cooperative.
