GRAND JUNCTION, Colo- Police say, at approximately 7:35 a.m. Monday morning, Mesa Jewelers on Main Street was burglarized. After sweeping the damages, the store was able to open for business 12:30 that afternoon.

Investigators say they believe a suspect first broke into the main door to see if the alarm would sound, then left the premises, changed clothes, and later returned to commit the crime. Employees of the locally-owned jewelry store say they’re keeping heads high with a strong hope for justice to be served.

“I saw the video and, personally, I think it was one person,” Chris Kelly shares, “If it’s two, let’s get both guys. Either way, I would like justice to be served and I want to catch whoever did it.”

Grand Junction Police confirm they’re looking for one suspect. The store reportedly suffered about 50 thousand dollars worth of damaged property and stolen merchandise.

As the investigation continues, Mesa Jewelers will be open during normal hours.

Surviellance cameras captured footage of the break-in and the Grand Junction Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding the adult male suspect. If you have any information about this crime, you’re urged to call non-emergency dispatch at 970-242-6707.
