FRUITA, Colo. — A few members of the Wheels West Car Club gather some classic favorites with friends to promote the car show, continuing the tradition of having the photoshoot at Munchies Pizza & Deli. The photoshoot is not only meant to get people pumped on the return of Fruita’s downtown festival.
After being cooped up from COVID, it’s an open call for people to enter a classic car, truck, or motorcycle. The team, along with everyone involved is excited for the festival to fly out of the nest this summer.
“The annual festival has been going on for at least 25 years in Fruita, Colorado. Other clubs sponsored the show in the past,” Jim Dideere explains, “We had the opportunity two years ago to pick it up and go forward with it so we’re putting in all the efforts forward, as you can see here, to make it a great show in August.”
“Two years ago this brought over 17,000 unique visitors to this festival,” Joel Kincaid recalls, “It’s great for our community for people to get out, get involved, and see each other. What we are expecting this year, I think this photoshoot is going to help people know that the festival still on for this year. We’re gonna bring in, hopefully, new people and those that have been here for years.”
The car show will be part of the annual Mike the Headless Chicken Festival in August. The grand prize for this year’s car show is a 65-inch plasma screen TV with surround sound among other prizes and giveaways.
The car show is open to all classic cars and motorcycles on Saturday August 28, 2021 from 9am to 3pm. Entry fee will be $20.00 for the first vehicle and $10.00 for each additional vehicle which will include a dash plaque and awards.
Pre-registration will take place on Friday, August 27 from 4pm to 6pm at Munchies located at 50 Kokopelli Drive, Fruita CO 81521. For additional information please email your questions to firstname.lastname@example.org
