Multiple crews respond to wildfire northwest of Beavertail Mountain

The Upper Colorado River Fire Management Unit, along with local agencies, are currently responding to the wildfire, just northwest of the Beavertail Tunnel on I-70 on Saturday evening. Multiple engines, two helicopters (type 1 & type 3), two single-engine air tankers, and air attack are battling the fire.

A representative of the Bureau of Land Management says crews made great progress today. The fire is in a remote area where they were able to utilize the available aircraft.

This incident occurs in the same remote area as the Pine Gulch fire from July 2020. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Updates will be provided when available.
