GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — The ballots have been counted and cured the results are in. Here are the unofficial results to the 2023 Grand Junction City Election from the undersigned Canvassing Board.

The current results are as follows;

  • City Council District A – Cody Kennedy
  • City Council District B – Jason Nguyen
  • City Council District C – Anna Stout (uncontested)
  • City Council At-Large – Scott Beilfuss
  • Referred Measure 1A – Yes
  • Referred Measure 1B – Yes

A total of 18,675 ballots were cast in this year’s 2023 April municipal election. The results in their entirety from the city are attached below.

Referred Measure 1A refers to the production of a community rec center. 1B refers to increasing the property lease term for Colorado Discover Abilities.

Candidate Diane Schwenke recently hired an attorney to threaten legal action should the city decide not to count about 380 ballots today told Western Slope Now she needs more time to finalize her decision.

The results will now be canvassed and finalized by the city council, and official results will be posted on April 19.

Per City Charter, the City Council serves as a canvassing board to certify the election results. The Council received the initial results on April 5 and will receive today’s updated unofficial results next Wednesday, April 19, at the regular City Council meeting. The City Council, except for Mayor Stout because she was a candidate, will canvass the election returns and in their role as the canvassing board will then sign the certificate making the election results official.
