Pandemic Impact on BLM

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Monday morning’s commissioner meeting included an update from the Bureau of Land Management.

As a result of the pandemic, the BLM’s southwest district office has been adjusting to using telecommunication in order to keep employees working remotely.

The increase in recreational visitors caused the BLM to alter its cleaning procedures at its restrooms and recreation facilities.

“We’ve had to adapt with some of the ways that we do things, like cleaning our restrooms and recreation facilities, we’ve had a huge increase in recreation and so just being creative and coming up with ideas to make sure that people have the proper PPE, or proper protective equipment,” said Eric Coulter with the BLM Colorado, Southwest District Office.

Although office spaces and visitor centers are closed, BLM offices are still open for business by appointment.

You can call the BLM office at (970) 244-3000* or e-mail gjfo_webmail@blm.gov.
