Rep. Tipton Tackles Farmer’s Freeze

News

Grand Junction, Colo. – After a sudden freeze in early April, many Western Slope farmers are facing a potential loss of crops, totaling up to 95% of the seasonal haul.

Now, Colorado’s leading elected officials are stepping in to try and secure relief for farmers. U.S. Senators Michael Bennett (D, CO) and Cory Gardner (R, CO) partnered with Rep. Scott Tipton (R, CO 3rd District) to compose a letter to the USDA, asking the organization to support Gov. Polis’ (D) request to grant Western Colorado a Disaster Declaration – to support farmers facing a devastating season.

KREX 5’s Caitrin Assaf spoke with Rep. Tipton about how he’s helping the Western Slope – and what this could mean for our struggling growers.
