LOMA, Colo – Colorado Highway 139 has been closed all week because of wildfire activity to the north.
The Oil Springs Fire, now over 12,000 acres, has shut down CO 139 for days, and CDOT expects the closures to last into the weekend. As of Friday morning, the fire is just 5% contained. Officials in Rio Blanco County say the fire conditions have eased, allowing crews to lay retardant and complete controlled burns in the area.
The closure is from Loma to Rangely. Anyone traveling to the northwest part of the state will have to first head to Rifle, take 13 to Meeker, and 64 to Rangely.
