MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) – Rowell has been the undersheriff for three years but has served Mesa County Sheriff’s Office for two decades. He and current sheriff, Matt Lewis, have discussed him taking over and Mesa County Commissioners made the transition official during Monday’s meeting.
Rowell is honored to take up this role, continuing to serve the community he loves.
“Coming out of the struggle of COVID and some police reform movements that had put law-enforcement in a bad light, this community has wrapped its arms around us,” Todd Rowell reflects, “I’m really really excited struggling being better for entire community.”
Things like National Night Out are something to look forward to as the high level of safety and service will continue under new leadership. Rowell will be serving the remainder of Sheriff Matt Lewis’ term until an elected sheriff takes office in January 2023.
