For the eighth episode of Troy’s Terrific Trails, we traveled two hours and 15 minutes to Carbondale, CO to hike Crystal Mill.
This trail is eight miles round trip and takes about 4-5 hours to complete. There is still tons of snow on the trail, so make sure to wear thick hiking boots, or snow shoes with poles.
You can bring your dog on this trail, but it is recommended that you wait until the snow melts, because dogs can get stuck in the deep snow.
There is a avalanche site at the half way point of the hike, if you decide to continue, hike to the upper left of the site to find the trail.
Unfortunately, we did not finish this trail because the weather was not ideal and snow was getting too deep and slippery. However, we will be back when mother nature brings out the sun and most of the snow melts.
